Between the years 1961 and 1966, in the Borough of York, a Drum and Bugle Corps was formed and competed.  This Corps, after almost 40 years held a reunion on the weekend of September 20 2003.  It would appear that the corps had in its 5 years in competition approximately 140 young men participating in this remarkable group.

After the passing of a Corps Member, an effort was made to collect as many name of members of this great Corps. No Corps list existed, the memory's of a small group of York members resulted in the gathering of 122 names.  Phone calls were made, emails were sent, and this web site made it possible to contact (as of this date) 80 members of the famous White Knights.

During our search we found out that some members have passed away, others had moved out of Canada, and others were spread across this great country.

It is truly remarkable that the memories are so strong and the emotions are so fresh after so many years.  This Corps and its personnel made a difference in the lives of many and we dedicate this site to the Drum Corps of the World.

Mr David James Kirton ......husband of Simone , father of sons David, John ( both former York Lions Drum Corps members ) and daughter Wanda ( ardent York Lions Drum Corps fan), passed away peacefully on Feb.18, 2009, just one week after celebrating his 89th birthday.

Mr Kirton was a staunch supporter of York Lions and could often be seen at various competitions and parades. Just one example : Mr. Kirton, always willing to help, drove a carload of corps members to Arnprior ( 4-5 hr drive) for a competition that Doug ( Saunders) had announced  at a Malton parade that same day.....and York lions took 1st place !

Later in life , Mr. Kirton became a Mason,  helping the Masonic Order with it's charitable work for a number of years until he joined the Bruce Shrine Club where he continued his community service until his passing.

Mr. Kirton will be missed by his family and many friends alike. May he rest in peace.
